New library service on its way

A new library service is to be trialled in Northleach this year. Pictured - Rob Platts (Northleach Town Council) and Cllr Paul Hodgkinson.

Following the scaling back of the mobile library service for parts of the Cotswolds recently, a new six month trial is coming to Northleach. It comes as a result of Cllr Paul Hodgkinson, Northleach Town Council and the Black Cat Cafe working together to find a replacement.

Books will be available to borrow from the Black Cat Cafe on the fourth Thursday of every month at 2.30pm. People can use an ipad to view the full range of books available, make orders and bring back items already read. They can also browse a small collection of books on site.

County Councillor Hodgkinson said: "Everything you can do in an ordinary library you can do with this new service. We wanted to find something which would benefit local people and at the same time use an existing space which is welcoming and a good social hub."

"It's a case of use it or lose it. We've got six months to make this work. Let's make use of this fabulous facility not only to get books but to have a cup of coffee and do some socialising too."
